At the start of St.Patrick’s week the sign wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day in English, French, and Galic, along with an Irish flag was placed on the billboard at the entrance to the Veteran’s bridge. On Thursday, the Irish flag was hoisted in front of City Hall along with 24 small Irish flags placed in the windows of City Hall.
The St. Patrick’s supper was held at the Gowan Brae dining room on Friday, March 17th. A enthusiastic supper crowd of 136 people were in attendance for a delicious BBQ chicken supper and entertainment.
After wishing the crowd a Happy St. Patrick’s day, Minister Brian Kenny greeted those in attendance. Kevin Mann than gave an Irish toast and recited a list of Irish surnames which was very informative and interesting. Margie MacDonald said grace for the supper.
Before the entertainment started a half and half draw was done in support of the Chapters High School bursary and was won by Carole Doyle/Roberts of Belledune. Six door prizes were drawn, 3 shamrock plants and 3 Irish flags. George Riordon donated a quart of Maple Syrup for the 7th door prize.
